January / February 2013

The UCI Cyclocross Masters World Championships took place January 29th - February 1st at the Champions Park at River Road Country Club in Louisville, Kentucky. Heather Heinrich and Andrew Webster capped off an awesome season of cross racing battling the course at Master Worlds. The weather proved to be a major factor in Thursday's racing as the race was riddled with snow, mud, gusty winds and plummeting temperatures throughout the course of the day. Picking your line would become a huge factor in the race. Heather battled it out in the Women’s 40-44 age group final on Thursday finishing a solid 17th (19). The challenging weather & course conditions continued to compound just in time for Webb’s race on Friday. An overnight snow storm with frigid temperatures froze the course with many ruts from the previous days’ racing. As temperatures rose parts of the course thawed, adding additional mud to the already challenging course. Webb cranked out a super race and finished an outstanding 15th out of 29 racers in the Mens 30-34 age group – rock on Webb. What an outstanding way for Webb and Heather to finish out their outstanding cross season!

Solid endings bring about the thoughts of new beginnings: only three short months until the start of the 2013 mountain bike season! The team is delighted to announce that Specialized, Cannondale, Mavic and Tifosi will be back again to be the team’s bike/gear sponsors. Also, we are psyched to have back PowerBar to keep us fueling and recovering for our training and racing needs. Powerbar has announced new PowerBar Performance Energy Blends – a fruit-based alternative to bars, gels and chews. They feature their C2Max dual-source energy blend and are gluten-free. We definitely will be adding those to our nutritional line-up. Also continuing their sponsorship is DogFish Head Brewery. We are thankful for the continued support of all our sponsors – we couldn’t do it without you! Now…back to training!
